Bio: I, Joseph M. Bradshaw, am a graduate student and teaching assistant at Michigan State University. I am in the African History PhD program and I specialize in slave systems in northwest Africa from the 16th century to the 18th century. More particularly I am interested in trade in goods and slaves from Mali to Morocco, the reign of Mulay Isma'il, and Morocco's role in the early economy of the Atlantic World. I have begun this blog as part of a class on South African History in the Digital Age, but I will no doubt keep it for some time to come.
